Wikipedia Foundation no Longer Accepts Crypto,
The Wikipedia Foundation will no longer accept Bitcoin as a donation. The decision is linked to environmental concerns and to the high volatility of the coin. The WMF started accepting cryptocurrency in 2014 in response to community requests.
Before the decision, they accepted Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Dogecoin, and Stablecoins. The foundation reported US$130,000 worth of crypto donations in the last financial year or 0.08% of total donations.
Universal Basic Income Coin Provides Universal Income Coin
Global Income Coin aims to provide a Universal Basic Income of $1 a day to any human in the world, theoretically. Founded by Sid Sijbrandij, “Earning opportunities are vastly different between countries, which helps to perpetuate poverty throughout the world. It is a moral imperative to treat all people well.” he says.
Sid Sijbrandij is the co-founder of Git-Lab Inc, an open-core company that provides GitLab, the DevOps software that combines the ability to develop, secure, and operate software in a single application.
Buffet Bashes Bitcoin
Once again, billionaire Warren Buffet spoke against Bitcoin at the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholder meeting. "If you told me you owned all the bitcoin in the world and you offered it to me for $25, I wouldn't take it. What would I do with it," he said.
Berkshire Hathaway took a big hit from its investments, reporting a loss of $1.58 billion amid a broader market decline. To be sure, Buffett always advises shareholders to ignore these quarterly investment fluctuations.
